Gawthrop Cottages: Renovation & History

The 17th century cottages stand beside Olivers Gill, next to Olivers bridge, built by Oliver Cromwell (hence the name). Bridge cottage was used as a Chapel in the late 1800’s and a teashop / B&B in the 1960's & 1970's.

We have carefully renovated the cottages using skilled architect design and characture fitting interior design. The canti-levered walk way overlooks the stream and the small garden has a picnic bench with steps to dangle your feet in the water. The views from both cottages are panoramic with the Yorkshire Dales to the East & the Lakeland Fells to the West.

Dentdale hosts 3 real ale pubs that sell food, 2 friendly cafes, Meditation Centre, Heritage centre, art & craft gallery, 1000 year old Church and a village shop. You will find great walks from the doorstep and interesting nearby towns & villages to explore.
